A suspect walked into a pharmacy on the 3600 block of Verdugo Blvd, presented a firearm, and stole narcotics. The suspect fled northbound and entered a dark colored vehicle, possibly a Camry or Lexus.

Four residential burglaries were reported in the West Command: 1200 block of Highland, 2000 block of Kenneth, 1100 block of Virginia, 1500 block of Idlewood. The suspect is described at Male, White, 5’10, 190 Lbs, 30’s.
- Officer Injured – Tuesday, April 16, 2013:

Officers responded to the 1100 block of Elm Ave regarding a 17 year old juvenile disobeying his mother and refusing to go to school. The juvenile previously damaged several items in the residence due to his temper. Officers made contact with the juvenile who was belligerent and confrontational with officers. While attempting to handcuff the subject, the male became uncooperative and a struggle ensued. The officer fell and struck his mouth against a retaining wall causing some cuts to his lip and mouth. The subject was ultimately taken into custody.
- Residential Burglary – Tuesday, April 16, 2013:

A knock knock burglary occurred while the resident was home on the 1100 block of Virginia. Resident initially heard knocking at the side door, then glass breaking at the rear bedroom window. Victim saw the suspect’s foot protruding through the window and yelled at him. The suspect fled eastbound from the location prior to officers’ arrival. Suspect is described as Male Hispanic.
- Assault with a Deadly Weapon – Monday, April 15, 2013:

Officers responded to a fight in progress at Glendale/Broadway. Upon arrival officers detained the suspect and located a 39 year old male victim that was unconscious on the sidewalk. The victim was breathing and found to have lacerations to the face. Witnesses stated that the males were in Dave’s Bar drinking when a fight broke out. The fight carried over to the sidewalk where the suspect “stomped” on the victim’s head rendering him unconscious. The victim was transported to LAMC by GFD. The 41 year old suspect was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. The suspect had a small laceration to the forehead and was transported to Memorial Hospital for booking clearance.

Witness 1 on the 1700 block of Kenilworth reported a male Hispanic, wearing a black tank top had broken into his garage and was last seen on a white and pink bike. Witness 2 reported a male was chased out of his backyard by a dog on the 1200 block of Grandview and was last seen on a bike toward Glenoaks. Officers located the male at the DMV Glenoaks / Rosedale. The male was in possession of two cameras, a meth pipe, and miscellaneous property. The suspect is a Burbank resident.
- Residential Burglary – Sunday, April 14, 2013:

Victim’s residence on the 500 block of Pioneer Dr was tented for fumigation on Friday, April 12. On April 14, the victim noticed the tent was cut and his residence was ransacked. Investigation revealed that an unsuccessful attempt was made to pry the rear doors. Suspect(s) then removed a screen and made entry via a side residence window. Loss was cash and numerous designer handbags.

Officers responded to a burglary in progress on the 600 block of E Glenoaks (dental office). The reporting party stated he saw a male exit the business through a broken window shortly after hearing glass break. Two males were seen fleeing east on Glenoaks in a small black vehicle. There was no apparent loss at the time of the report.
- Burglary Tools/Damage to a police vehicle – Saturday, April 13, 2013:

Officers contacted a suspicious male who was sitting at a bus bench on the corner of Los Feliz and Brand. As they were talking to the male, the officers observed a screwdriver partially sticking out of the male’s pants. He was patted down and placed in handcuffs. During the pat down the officers discovered a bent antenna inside the male’s clothing (antennas were missing from two U-Haul trucks next to the suspect). As the officers were conducting their investigation the male became agitated and got up from the bench and then refused to comply with direction. The suspect continued to be very agitated and confrontational. He was securely seat belted, but during the transport he rotated his body and was able to kick out the rear window of the unit. The male was arrested for possession of burglary tools / vandalism. He is on probation for robbery and has prior arrests for burglary tool possession.

Officers made consensual contact with a male outside of a motel on La Fayette/Colorado. The male was in possession of several individually packaged baggies of meth. Officers knocked on the door of the room where the male was staying in the motel and located 6 individuals, 3 females and 3 males. One of the males had a large amount of cash. Two of the males were arrested for sales of narcotics.

Officers responded to a residential burglary alarm on the 1400 block of Opechee. Upon arrival officers found a small window to front door was smashed. Loss includes cash, casino slips and a watch.

Victim received a call from the alarm company regarding activation at his business on the 1700 block of W Glenoaks. Upon arrival, victim noticed one of the windows to the business was shattered and numerous files and computers were taken.

Officers searched the area of Lexington and Adams for the suspect in an indecent exposure report that occurred the previous evening. Officers observed a male matching the description walking in the area with his pants undone. Subsequent investigation resulted in the male confessing to the crime.
- Residential Burglary – Tuesday, April 9, 2013:

Victim arrived home to the 3500 block of La Crescenta Ave from work in the late afternoon and found the front door unlocked. She entered and saw dresser drawers in her bedroom and home office had been ransacked and jewelry missing. Point of entry was through a window on the side of the house not visible from the street. Two other windows had a moderate amount of pry mark damage but were not opened.
- Stolen Vehicle Recovered – Tuesday, April 9, 2013:

Officer conducted a traffic stop of an Audi A4 with paper plates. A VIN check revealed the vehicle was stolen out of LA. The female driver was in possession of ignition keys and claimed she borrowed the car from a friend who lives in Glendale. She would not give this friend’s information. The driver was also in possession of meth and a meth pipe. Officer called the registered owner and learned the Audi keys had been kept in her other car which had earlier been burglarized. The owner believed the burglary suspect returned with the keys and stole her Audi.

Individual from St Gregory Rd reported a suspicious male knocked on his door and asked for an unknown female. The suspect left but was seen running from a neighbor’s house moments later. The male entered a waiting light colored late model Chevrolet which was last seen traveling toward Chevy Chase. Officers observed the vehicle travel onto the 2 Fwy at Holly. A vehicle stop was initiated on the 2 Fwy at York. Four males, all from the Los Angeles area, were detained. Masks, scanners, gloves and burglary tools were recovered. Two of the males are on parole for robbery. All were booked for suspicion of burglary.

Victim reported that her estranged husband, who was drunk, let himself into her apartment and fell asleep on the couch. The victim reports that the male has a semi-automatic gun in his waistband. Officers made contact with the male who possessed an air-soft type replica handgun. The male was taken into custody without incident.
- Vehicles Vandalized West Command – Sunday, April 7, 2013:

Officers responded to the 1600 block of Vista Court regarding a vandalism that just occurred. Officers on scene discovered vehicles parked on the street belonging to three different residences on Vista Ct. had all their tires slashed. Officers located a witness who lives across the street who saw the suspect commit the tire slashing. The suspect was described as a male wearing a hooded sweatshirt. The suspect was alone and he fled the scene in a dark 4 door sedan possibly a Toyota or a Honda. An additional victim was later located at 1000 block of Cumberland Rd.

Officers responded to 400 block of W Kenneth Rd regarding a residential burglary. The homeowner heard a loud noise. When he investigated further he discovered that someone had broken a glass door that leads to the backyard of the residence. The homeowner has a view of Columbus if he looks over his backyard fence. When he looked over the fence he saw two males in red hooded sweatshirts walking northbound on Columbus. Nothing was taken, but a window punch was left at the scene. The homeowner waited 30 minutes before calling the police.

Officers responded to 1300 block of Idlewood Rd regarding a residential burglary. The back door to the residence had been kicked in by the suspect(s) to gain entry. The suspect(s) removed a safe from the residence, which contained 5 loaded handguns, watches and jewelry.
Update 4-7-2013
Burbank PD was called to a house where the mother of a 17 year old male found a handgun in her son’s bedroom. Upon running a check on the handgun, it returned as being one of the stolen guns from the Idlewood residential burglary. The male was apprehended by Burbank PD a short time later. Burbank obtained a confession from suspect that he committed the Idlewood residential burglary. Suspect stated some of the jewelry was already pawned and he may know where some of the other evidence is located.
Update 4-8-13
Burglary Detectives assisted Burbank PD with search warrant service in the Sun Valley area of Los Angeles. A second burglary suspect was identified and arrested by Burbank PD at that location. To date, 4 of the 5 guns that were taken during the Glendale burglaries have been recovered.

Officers responded to 1100 block of N Central regarding a robbery that just occurred. The suspects approached the victims who were about to enter their apartment. The female suspect took money from one of the victims then both victims were pepper sprayed by a male suspect. The suspects were Hispanic or Middle Eastern in their mid 20’s.
- Possession for Sales Arrest – Target – Thursday, April 4, 2013:

Target Loss Prevention advised officers of a found purse containing narcotics and a scale. Officers responded when the owner of the purse attempted to retrieve it from Target. While officers were en route, the female fled without her purse and was detained in the 400 block of W. Colorado by officers without incident. The purse contained numerous baggies of methamphetamine and a digital scale.

Officers were hailed down by a woman at La Crescenta / Montrose that her iPad was stolen. The victim was tracking it through GPS to the 2800 block of Manhattan Ave. Officers went to the location, door knocked the residence and contacted a male who subsequently admitted to possessing the iPad. The victim said her iPad was stolen from a theater in Pasadena. The male admitted working at the same theater at the time the victim lost her iPad. The male was arrested for receiving stolen property.

The alarm company called to the Police Department to report a robbery just occurred at a business on the 1400 block of E Colorado. Suspect is described as a male Asian, 25 – 30 years, 5’ 7”, wearing a light brown long haired wig. The suspect displayed a blue steel semi-automatic gun.
- DUI Arrest – Tuesday, April 2, 2013:

Officers responded to a vehicle stopped on the off ramp of the 134 Freeway at Glendale Ave with an unresponsive female in the driver seat. When officer arrived, he parked his patrol unit in front of the vehicle to prevent it from moving forward and into traffic on Glendale Ave. Officer then exited his vehicle and attempted to wake up the female. When she woke up, she took her foot off the vehicle brake causing her car to roll forward and bump his patrol unit. Officer ultimately had to break the window and remove the keys from the female’s vehicle because she refused to place the vehicle in park. She was arrested for DUI. There was no damage to the patrol vehicle or the female’s vehicle as a result of her bumping into the patrol vehicle.

Individual reported suspicious males inside a vehicle and looking in the trunk on Pacific/Doran. When the reporting party confronted the males, the suspects took off running and were detained by officers. Suspects had burglary tools in their possession. Victim identified property left on the ground.

Officer stopped a driver at Chevy Chase / Broadway in the 7-Eleven lot for reckless driving. The driver was determined to be DUI. The driver was placed in the rear seat of the police unit when the driver kicked out the right rear passenger window. Shattered glass scattered onto the officer and into his police unit that was parked adjacent to the DUI unit. Officer was uninjured. The driver was extremely uncooperative and verbally abusive toward officers. The driver was arrested for felony vandalism, DUI, violating his probation for DUI, and driving on a suspended license.

A robbery occurred at the Vons on the 3200 block of Foothill Blvd. The male suspect brandished a handgun which was in his waistband and demanded a store manager to remove money from a cash register. He fled in an unknown direction.

Officer’s responded to the 500 block of Patterson regarding a vehicle burglary that just occurred. During the investigation, officers located additional property to a possible second vehicle at Kenilworth / Patterson. The owner of the found property could not be located. Investigation revealed the suspects of the vehicle burglary attacked and assaulted a male at Freemont Park. The investigation also revealed a second victim of a vehicle burglary reported on the 500 block of Doran. Suspects were described as Males, 20’s, wearing a gray sweatshirt and a black sweatshirt. No further description.

Individual reported a theft of cable in progress from a parked Charter Communication truck at Melrose / Dryden. A vehicle was observed leaving the area and stopped by officers. Driver of the vehicle denied any involvement but officer investigation revealed an associate of his resided close to the location. Officer contacted the known associate who admitted to the attempt theft of cable and to the driver’s involvement. Approximately 50 yards of cable recovered from subterranean garage.

GFD and GPD receive a 911 call of a women and child crying and screaming on the 600 block of W Stocker. Upon arrival it is determined that a 16 month child fell from the third story of an apartment. Investigation revealed that the child was being held by his father, who was standing next to a screen window. The child started getting restless in his arms and jumped out of his arms towards the window screen. The child went through the screen and fell three stories. At this the child suffered a contusion to his head and a broken left arm.

Officers responded to 900 block of S Glendale Ave to serve a felony no bail warrant to the resident. Prior to service, Officers observed the male on the property. Officers approached the residence and provided knock and notice. After several failed attempts in persuading the residents to open the door, the front door of the residence was breached. The residents were called out of the house and detained. The male, on active PRCS for narcotic sales, refused to come out. With the assistance of the K-9’s, Officers cleared the residence. The male was not discovered within the residence, however, there were fresh scuffs marks on the wall that led to an attic. Using a tactical mirror, officers observed the male hiding in the attic. The male eventually followed commands and came down from the attic without incident. The male was arrested for the felony no-bail warrant and a search of his bedroom revealed narcotics paraphernalia and several credit cards in other individuals’ names. A search of his vehicle revealed several catalytic converters, electrical drill and miscellaneous tools.

Officer contacted a male at the corner of Chevy Chase Dr and Colorado St. Officer recognized the male from a previous incident where the male had given a false name. Officer had knowledge the male was on probation and had a no bail warrant. Upon contact, the male immediately fled and a foot pursuit ensued southbound on Chevy Chase Dr. The suspect ran to a rear yard of the 500 block of S Chevy Chase where officer caught up to him. The suspect was taken into custody.

Individual reported a vehicle burglary and the suspect leaving the 3200 block of Mills Ave in a gray Dodge Caravan. Shortly after the burglary, officers located the suspect’s vehicle southbound on the 2 Freeway past Verdugo. The vehicle pulled over and the passenger ran out of the vehicle. Suspect was last seen running under the overpass into bushes. The driver of the vehicle was detained and property from the vehicle burglary on Mills was recovered.

A driver was southbound on Glendale Ave at Doran on a green light when she struck a 75 year old pedestrian who was walking in the crosswalk. The pedestrian was struck with the driver’s side mirror, tearing it off the car. Upon officer arrival, the pedestrian was still down, bleeding from the head. The pedestrian was conscious, but could not remember anything and transported to LA County Hospital. It appears the pedestrian was most at fault, walking against a red light while in a crosswalk.

Officers responded to Concord / Dryden regarding a vehicle into a residence. When officers arrived they found an unoccupied vehicle with the air bags deployed. There was major damage to the residence and the vehicle. There were no injuries to anyone inside the house. The vehicle was registered to an individual on the 700 block of W Glenoaks. Officers made contact with a male, who was the son of the registered owner. He had redness on his face from the airbag deployment and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. He was arrested for DUI / Hit and Run. The male later admitted to officers that he was driving the vehicle and it was not stolen as he originally reported it to be.

A male adult was riding his bicycle south bound on Harvey Drive approaching Glenoaks Blvd. His father, who was also on a bicycle followed from behind. A vehicle traveling north bound on Harvey Dr made a left turn in front of the son without yielding. The male adult bike rider struck the windshield and came to rest on the roof of the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was a male adult with a provisional license. The injured bike rider was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital with a possible broken leg.

Officers responded a traffic collision on San Fernando and Pacific. Subsequent investigation revealed a 35 year old female transient and her male companion had just exited the Department of Public Social Services. A large delivery truck was backing into the business on 700 block of S. Pacific when the female alerted the truck driver that he had backed into her and she was now experiencing pain in her knee. The driver denied this but the female demanded money for her injury.
Glendale Fire Department arrived and saw no visible signs of injury and the female refused treatment. No independent witnesses were found. The female’s companion left prior to the arrival of units.

A 22 year old female was walking across Glenoaks at Allen in the east marked crosswalk when a 68 year old female driver struck the pedestrian. The driver was making a left turn and stated she did not see the pedestrian. The pedestrian was transported to Glendale Adventist Hospital for right leg pain and an abrasion to her right knee.

Traffic conducted a DUI Saturation Patrol from 7 pm – 3 am on Friday night. The following is a list of results from the operation: 49 vehicles stopped, 13 field sobriety tests administered, one vehicle stored, two DUI alcohol arrests, two DUI drug arrests, and four miscellaneous infractions.

The pedestrian was transported and treated for complaint of pain to her wrist and her upper torso. The driver was found to be most at fault, failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

A male was walking on San Fernando crossing Sonora in the southern crosswalk, when he was struck by a vehicle. The vehicle left the scene. The car was described as a red sedan, older model and was last seen toward Victory. The pedestrian was transported to Los Angeles County Medical Center by Glendale Fire Department Paramedics. He was alert and conscious.

A male driver was south bound on Elm approaching Glenwood. He stopped at the stop sign and proceeded to turn onto Glenwood when he struck a female pedestrian who was walking her dog in the crosswalk. The female was transported to St. Josephs with complaint of pain to her right side, and several scratches and abrasions to her arms and legs. She was conscious and alert. Driver remained on scene.

The following is a list of results from the operation: 1343 vehicles through the checkpoint, 702 vehicles stopped, 94 vehicles screened, 29 Field Sobriety Tests administered, three vehicles towed, two DUI alcohol arrests, three DUI drug arrests, eight unlicensed driver arrests, two suspended license arrests, one criminal misdemeanor, and one infraction.

A 71 year old male pedestrian was crossing at Chevy Chase and Glenoaks when he was struck by a vehicle. The vehicle was driving westbound on Chevy Chase and turned onto Glenoaks when driver failed to yield for pedestrian on crosswalk. There were no visible injuries but complaint of pain to right shoulder. Pedestrian was transported to Glendale Adventist Hospital.

Officer observed a two car Traffic Collision on the eastbound 134 freeway at Orange Grove in Pasadena. Cars were engulfed in flames and several people were trapped inside. CHP and Fire contacted and all parties were removed from their vehicles. Two persons were in critical conditions. No fatalities.
